EarthCam Keeps Watch Over USS Intrepid Progress

Live Webcams To Follow December 5th Move

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, December 5, 2006 -- EarthCam (www.EarthCam.com), the award-winning website featuring live webcams, will keep watch 24/7 from sea and shore as engineers work for a second time December 5th to free the USS Intrepid and tow the aircraft carrier down the Hudson River, launching a two-year dry dock renovation.

Plans call for the tow to begin between 7:30 and 9:30AM Eastern Standard Time.

The first attempt to free the historic icon was scrubbed November 6th as a 24-year accumulation of mud prevented a fleet of tugboats from moving the 27,000-ton warship.

In cooperation with the Intrepid Sea, Air & Space Museum, EarthCam has positioned a wireless network camera at the top of the carrier's mast with another stationed on shore plus a megapixel camera for historic image archiving. The cameras transmit live images daily for official use and for international web viewers on EarthCam.com at http://www.EarthCam.com/intrepid.

During the tow, EarthCam cameras will follow the entire voyage of the USS Intrepid to Bayonne, NJ. During phase one renovations in Bayonne and during phase two in Staten Island, EarthCam visitors will be able to witness the progress and view archives of the refurbishment, which includes the rebuilding of Pier 86, the ship’s permanent berth, on Manhattan's west side.

Future plans call for segments of EarthCam's archived footage to be incorporated into a PBS documentary telling the story of the $60 million renovation. The documentary will be exhibited by EarthCam on board the Intrepid upon its re-dedication during Fleet Week 2008.

"We are honored to play a role in the ongoing historic drama of the USS Intrepid and happy our advanced technology will make it possible for those who cannot be there to participate from any location," said Brian Cury, Founder and CEO of EarthCam, Inc.
