EarthCam Demonstrates New Camera Technology and Traffic Management Software at ITS America FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, October 17, 2011 -- EarthCam, the webcam technology experts, will demo its webcam technology and new intelligent Traffic Management Software at its exhibit (#1242) at ITS America in Orlando, FL from October 17-20. The EarthCam Traffic Management Software suite, with new enhanced features, is suited for DOT industry professionals seeking to monitor roadway and work zone conditions, while being able to analyze activity and generate reports. EarthCam's software produces a dynamic multi-lane visualization of the client's smart roadway project. The user interface displays live and archived information, including speed, density and volume by vehicle class for up to 10 lanes of traffic. Software parameters can also be set to alert traffic operations, as well as to update NTCIP compliant Dynamic Message Signs to alert the public to changing traffic conditions. EarthCam's Traffic Management Software allows transportation authorities to view their cameras live in their traffic operations center and share real-time updates on their public website or 511 page. DOTs also have the option to tie into social media, such as Facebook and Twitter, to share notifications with the public and aid in enhanced communications with the community. Several enhanced features of the Traffic Management Software will be showcased at the event, as well. The interface visualization will now feature a 3D representation of the vehicles in the “Live Feed” display. In response to studies showing that drivers are following too closely in work zones, which leads to an increase in accidents, EarthCam updated the software to create alerts based on gap analysis. This valuable data serves as a resourceful tool for studying traffic patterns within work zones and enabling authorities to share real-time traffic information with the public, ultimately resulting in safer roadways for drivers and workers alike. EarthCam's software makes it easy for project executives to customize and configure data reports. All of the information generated and archived through the Traffic Management Software can be exported to Excel, to be shared with engineers. Users can select the date range for which the information is collected and group the data to be displayed.
