EarthCam Announces The "25 Most Interesting Webcams of 2011" FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, December 16, 2011 -- EarthCam.com, the world's favorite webcam network, announced its 13th annual list of the "25 Most Interesting Webcams" from around the world. The 2011 honors were awarded to a variety of webcams, featuring everything from Schnauzer puppies to a space station to a snow leopard to volcanoes to a natural wonder of the world. Whether viewers are interested in seeing something that is weird and bizarre or a relaxation-inducing scenic landscape, there is sure to be a webcam for everyone. Notable winners include the TorchCam, which offers unprecedented panoramic and HD streaming video views of NYC from the torch of the Statue of Liberty, and Everest Live Web Cam that views Mount Everest in Nepal from the highest mountain making it the world’s highest webcam. In addition, a Tokyo webcam delivers views of the tsunami aftermath at the Fukushima Nuclear Facility, site of one of the largest nuclear disasters that dominated the headlines earlier this year. Daredevils will enjoy riding along to watch as a team of tornado chasers hunt for a twister or jumping on a virtual open air jeep to join an African wildlife safari. Voyeurs interested in peeking in on someone can tune in every day at 4:20pm PT as Bong Rip hosts his 'highly' entertaining webshow from California. And a don't miss webcam is the incredibly mundane Hallway Wait Cam, capturing the suspense as people count the minutes until they can finally meet with the Shawnee County Treasurer. Other judges include newcomers Bob Van Dillen, meteorologist for HLN's "Morning Express with Robin Meade"; Eric Shiner, Director of The Andy Warhol Museum; Vanessa DeLeon, interior designer and reality television celebrity featured on HGTV and Food Network; George M. Cleveland, Executive Director of the Gibson Center for Senior Services, Inc. and grandson of President Grover Cleveland; and 2010 honoree Kerin McDonald, Head of Brand & Marketing for Abbey Road Studios. "EarthCam is pleased to honor this year's winners for their creativity, use of webcam technology and their ability to entertain people all over the world with this unique webcam medium", said Brian Cury, CEO and Founder of EarthCam. "The judges picked a fantastic list and it's great to see more and more webcams with higher quality streams every year." The EarthCam producers pored over thousands of webcam sites and compiled a list of 100 semi-finalists. Then a panel of judges reviewed the selections and voted which webcams should make the final top 25 list based on quality of the image, uniqueness of the content and overall technical achievements in webcam technology.
