Watch Crosstown Construction Live on New EarthCam FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, July 19, 2017 -- The City of Port St. Lucie is pleased to announce the addition of EarthCam on the Crosstown Parkway Extension Project, providing real-time video streaming of construction for the new bridge. The EarthCam video is now available at http://crosstownextension.com, giving the public 24/7 access to activities on the highly-anticipated project that will provide the City’s third bridge crossing of the North Fork of the St. Lucie River. “Adding EarthCam allows residents to get a birds-eye view of this historic construction project,” said Port St. Lucie City Manager Russ Blackburn. “The Crosstown Parkway Extension Project will change our City for the better and this advanced technology will allow the community to be a part of it.” In response to intense public interest in the bridge and to chronicle its construction for future generations, the City Council agreed to incorporate EarthCam into the project. The new bridge will connect the existing Crosstown Parkway with U.S. Highway 1 at Village Green Drive. The project will provide numerous benefits to the community, including relieving traffic congestion and providing a new emergency evacuation route. The EarthCam was placed atop a 52-foot pole at the construction site using a hydraulic lift. Viewers can watch live, up-to-the-minute construction activities including pile driving and temporary trestle installation. A final, full time-lapse video of the entire construction process will be compiled at project completion, in fall 2019. The project will provide a six-lane divided highway and bridge that will serve as a multi-modal transportation alternative.
