EarthCam Unveils New Media Player for the Construction Industry Innovative Architecture & Alexa-Powered Interface Change the Way Construction Content is Presented FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE New York, February 21, 2019 -- EarthCam is reinventing the way that construction camera content is presented to the public with the introduction of its all-new media player. Known as a technology innovator and driving force of some of the most popular webpages for the world’s largest projects, construction companies are relying on EarthCam to power their live webcams and present their content to millions of viewers. The new media player delivers superior display capabilities for the massive amounts of content generated by EarthCam’s construction camera systems. The new interface is flexible and responsive enough to handle 9 different types of media, featuring 4 types of video and 3 types of panoramas including 360° immersive photography. The upgraded framework was built to display the high-quality visual content for an optimized viewing experience across multiple platforms and screens. The highly scalable format includes 40 features and can be completely personalized based on client preference for a total of 720 customizable options. The new media player is a re-imagination of EarthCam’s popular jobsite camera display. One of the more outstanding updates is the on-demand time-lapse movies. Clients have instant access to presentation-ready movies, complete with title graphics, extended play and a dynamic soundtrack, at any point throughout the project. EarthCam’s media player also supports Alexa-powered voice navigation. Users can say “Alexa, ask EarthCam to show me [company] cameras” and be presented with the best live streaming views direct from the jobsite. EarthCam also introduced a new linear progress bar, replacing the traditional clumsy click-heavy calendar navigation. This one-click visual navigation tool makes it easy to explore jobsite content and share progress milestones via email, social media and even to third party platforms such as Autodesk BIM 360, Procore, Facebook, Twitter and Reddit. A dedicated effort was made to create a faster and more responsive viewing experience, significantly reducing lag time and eliminating loading cues when moving between different media modes. Switching from live streaming video, 360° interactive panoramas and time-lapse content has been completely streamlined, along with a unique guided tour that automatically leads the viewer through the various cameras and perspectives for a particular project. Clients already taking advantage of the new media player include the NFL, NBA, Clemson University, Okland Construction, Skanska, Mortenson and Turner Construction. New with this release, users will have access to social engagement tools, enabling them to track their camera’s following based on total number of views. Viewers will also be able to “like” public cameras, creating another barometer of popularity for project owners. Visitors also have the ability to stay continuously updated on their favorite projects by signing up for EarthCam’s subscription service, where they will receive photos and customized updates from their favorite cameras. The powerful new media player, part of EarthCam’s Control Center 8 software-as-a-suite Version 8.5, was written from the ground up and is optimized for viewing across desktop, tablets and mobile phones. The latest round of enhancements goes far beyond a responsive design, completely changing the way clients can view and interact with their content. EarthCam’s new media player is the first of many software updates planned for this year.
