EarthCam's A.I. Technology Advances Autodesk Integration with Improved 3D Model and 360° Reality Capture Alignment

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

New York, November 19, 2019 -- EarthCam, the leading provider of construction camera technology and services, today announced at Autodesk University a new feature set that continues to enrich its integration with Autodesk.

Today’s digitized workflow creates enormous amounts of data from a growing number of sources, which makes it difficult to keep track of. By converging live jobsite cameras, AI, and 360° reality capture with Navisworks and Revit models, a powerful multifaceted model emerges making it easier to organize actionable information more efficiently.

When documenting construction progress with 360° reality capture, photos are often captured in varied orientations, which makes it difficult to compare and analyze progress for specific points of interest. EarthCam’s solution automatically aligns captured photos to create a cohesive library of archives for image comparison. Once aligned, users can markup the images to share detailed observations, or create a time-lapse to highlight progress.

EarthCam’s Control Center 8 software-as-a-service platform leverages A.I. technology to align 360° images with associated 3D BIM models. The resulting uniformly acquired data facilitates accurate image comparison to the same views in past timeframes and correlation with the associated BIM models almost immediately. Construction teams will spend less time in the field, minimize lag time in waiting for data to become available, and get immediate access to project imagery for collaboration.

“BIM is all about visual representation and communication - infusing live cameras onsite brings an entirely new level of richness in information and completely changes the collaborative landscape,” said Brian Cury, EarthCam CEO and Founder. “EarthCam is creating a path towards eliminating waste and supporting a lean culture. Through this visual information, the benefits of saved time and expenses are quickly realized.”

Harnessing live data sources available onsite and merging them with upstream BIM information to merge the as-designed with the as-built streamlines management of schedules and answers questions about clashes in near real-time. Beyond the benefits to the project team on-site, Virtual Design and Construction (VDC) teams can leverage EarthCam cameras on the jobsite to gain a greater insight into the project process using real-time media.

Another new feature is the ability to upload images to accompany Request-for-Information (RFIs) to PlanGrid. These data-rich photos, including telemetry from a local weather station, can be easily shared with team members improving the project’s overall communication, reporting and analysis.

The construction industry increasingly demands that technology companies collaborate to reduce friction and create comprehensive integrated solutions to support successful project management. With EarthCam’s support for Autodesk BIM 360 and the integration of visual content, the model becomes a framework that provides for a collaborative single-source environment for the entire project team.

EarthCam is driving productivity for a more informative jobsite providing end-to-end services, including camera rentals, professional installation and same-day delivery.
